WeatherOne is a wholly owned subsidiary of Metaphor, a broadcast industry solutions company, providing tailored, cutting edge information technology solutions and graphics services to the world wide broadcast and convergence media market. WeatherOne has its headquarters in Oslo, Norway, with additional agency, sales and service offices in Birmingham, England; Tokyo, Japan; Sydney, Australia and Washington DC, USA.

WeatherOne solutions range from automated PC based systems for TV, cable (DVB), and web production, to large and complex PC or SGI based systems that can run a full production for 24 hour weather channel operations - scalability and flexibility.

While WeatherOne provides unique and unmatched weather forecast and data products, the systems are designed to be integrated with any data stream, from satellite and radar imagery to forecast models, hyper-local and city forecasts; designed to create stunning graphics in 2D and 3D for the general audience as well as for weather experts (meteorologists and strategic weather planners and users, e.g. military or utility users).

WeatherOne’s systems were designed from the ground up to accept data in all from standard WMO formats to proprietary image/data formats, and have been successfully interfaced with any (no exception) documented data stream made available.

History

WeatherOne, a commercial offspring of one of the largest and most prestigious research facilities in Europe, revolutionized TV weather forecasting in 1993, by introducing direct data driven graphics production, supercomputer models direct to TV broadcast, all in one easy system. With satisfied customers world wide and strong emphasis on continued development, WeatherOne has served the broadcasting community with innovation and creativity for mode than a decade.
